Chester offering businesses free listings on revamped website; small biz tech seminars offered

The Town of Chester is revamping its website. As part of this new look will be a section where business and professional services can post a link directing viewers to their websites. This will be offered at no charge to Chester business owners.

Within the next month, Kyle Rogstad may be contacting businesses about the details of this project and determining levelw of interest in participating. If you wish to be linked, Rogstad will be requesting a brief description of your business and will be taking a photograph to be included on the town’s site.

Small business technology seminars offered

Also, the Town of Chester was selected as one of 25 Vermont communities severely affected by Tropical Storm Irene to participate in a digital economy program. As part of that program, the Vermont Small Business Development Center will offer a series of seminars offered by geared toward small business technology.

These seminars will take place on three consecutive Thursdays, beginning at 7 p.m., Aug. 29, Sept. 5 and Sept. 12 at the Newsbank Conference Center, 352 Main St., in Chester.

These sessions are as follows:

  • Social Media Marketing

An interactive training session on how to establish a social media presence for your business and how best to use social media to accomplish your business goals.

  • Cloud Computing

An interactive training session that introduces participants to various cloud computing tools and how these tools can be used to bolster your online presence, protect sensitive documents and increase office efficiency.

  • Mobile Marketing

An interactive training session where participants are introduced to the future of broadband technology.

In addition, the VtSBDC will provide one-on-one help to those businesses that request further assistance beyond what these seminars offer.
