Children’s advocates needed in Chester

Guardian ad LitemThere are children involved in the Windsor County Family Court from Chester who need help. They don’t need money. They need the time and attention of a caring adult.  In some cases, these children have been abused, neglected or caught in the middle of a custody dispute – but they all have the same need: to have a judge-appointed advocate who will look out for their best interest.

To be a Guardian ad Litem, you needn’t have any specialized experience – just a willingness to volunteer your free time, strong interpersonal and communication skills, a passion for helping vulnerable children and the ability to think critically, be assertive, work with others effectively, and use sound judgment.

Training is provided, and the personal reward is immeasurable.  Currently there’s a shortage of these volunteers in your area. If you can help, you can obtain more information or an application, at JUD-VermontGAL@state.vt.us or call 1(800)622-6359 or visit us at www.vermont.judiciary/GAL or stop in or call your local Family Court in White River Junction at  (802)-295-8865.

The next training session is in October, 2013 in Berlin.
