Vermont Law School, ranked No. 1 in the nation for environmental law and in the Top 20 for clinical training, has received a gift of $500,000 gift from an anonymous donor.

Given by a trustee who wishes to remain anonymous, the unrestricted gift may be used to support any number of programs and initiatives at the school, from leadership and faculty development to scholarships.

“This generous gift is a testament to the donor’s belief in the work we do at Vermont Law School,” said President and Dean Marc Mihaly. “Unrestricted gifts give us flexibility. They enable the school to seize new opportunities as well as retain our small class sizes, top-rated clinical training programs, and talented faculty – all of which our alumni cite as key to their success in practice.”

“We are thankful to this anonymous donor and to all of our supporters who share our commitment to developing a generation of leaders who use the law to make a difference,” Mihaly said.

In addition to the $500,00 gift, Vermont Law has received several significant gifts and grants in the last six months, including $1.5 million pledged to support its environmental program and a $700,000 grant extension from the U.S. Agency for International Development  for the school’s environmental projects in Southeast Asia.
