Paintcare logoJune 21: Free paint drop-off in Bennington

PaintCare, a Washington D.C.-based product stewardship organization for the paint industry, and the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources are holding a special free paint drop-off event in Bennington from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 at the Bennington Municipal Parking Lot, 205 South St., Bennington. Households or small businesses from any place in Vermont may bring paint, stain and varnish to the event.

The program, which started on May 1, now has more than 30 paint stores throughout the state for the public to take unwanted and leftover paint for recycling year round. Find other locations at www.paintcare.org.

June 22: Bread and Puppet Theater June performances

The Bread and Puppet Theater will perform The Nothing-Is-Not-Ready Shows at 3 p.m. on Sunday June 22 at the Bread and Puppet Farm at 753 Heights Road (Route 122), in Glover. The show follows a tour of the museum that begins at 2 p.m. The group is suggesting a donation of $10 per person.

On Friday, June 27 Robin Lloyd of the Burlington Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom will be presenting an anti-war performance, Talking With Our Grandmothers. It will be followed by discussions with Greg Joly, of the Good Life Center. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. is free and open to the public. Donations will be gratefully accepted.

June 26: Intro to pain reduction techniques at Rock Library

The Rockingham Free Public Library will offer an introduction to Emotional Freedom Techniques for the reduction of aches and pains at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, at 65 Westminster St. in Bellows Falls.

Jade Barbee, a certified EFT trainer and practitioner based in Bellows Falls, will lead the class. EFT or “Tapping” is a set of tools for optimal physical and emotional health — a form of acupressure that combines mindfulness together with acupoint stimulation. It is useful for addressing how we carry stress and trauma in our bodies.

Participants will get to experience group “tapping,” observe a demonstration, and receive a handout of the basic process to take with them.

June 28: All invited to free Community Meal

The Chester-Andover Community Meal will be held at noon on Saturday, June 28, at the Chester Congregational Church (corner of Main and Church streets). The event is free and open to all. Meals are not affiliated with any religious organization. They are designed as an opportunity for people to gather and socialize while enjoying a meal together. The public is encouraged to bring family and friends to enjoy fellowship and a meal prepared by different teams of people each month.

Aug. 1: Annual Bennington QuiltFest calls for entries

Lynn Way and Barbara Windham of Chester and members of the Quiet Valley Quilters’ Guild announce that the 21st Annual Bennington QuiltFest will be held on Sept. 13 and 14 at 
the Mount Anthony Union Middle School, 747 E. Road, Bennington. They invite quilters to enter their quilting projects in the event. The deadline for entering quilted pieces is Aug. 1. For a quilt entry form and complete details visit www.benningtonquiltfest.com.
