New play equipment installed at Pingree Park; fun fund-raising continues for more work

As of Father’s Day, Sunday, June 15, the new playground at Pingree Park in Londonderry is finished and open for fun.  After a year of planning and fund-raising there are new swings, a crawl tube, a bouncy seesaw and a climbing structure with slides.  The equipment is appropriate for ages 2 to 12 and includes accessible activities.

A practice backboard will be added to the tennis court after the court has been resurfaced.  The basketball backboards, rims and nets will be replaced as funds are raised.  Plans for the dog park, installation of power, security lighting and cameras are ongoing.  The old walking trail along the river will be improved and expanded to create a walking loop within the park.

All of this has been made possible by the generous support of the following businesses, agencies and community members:

Fun and fund-raising continues

This summer, with the help of Mackenzie Peters, the Londonderry Town Parks Board is raffling off a locally raised pig.  Tickets will be $5 and only 200 tickets will be available.  They will be available for sale at the Town Office Building during regular office hours, or by contacting the Parks Board (londonderrytownparks@gmail.com).

Raffle tickets will be sold up until the drawing on Sunday Aug. 17, 2014 at 3 p.m. at the end of Family Fun Day.  The Second Annual Family Fun Day will again benefit the Pingree Park Revitalization Project to help fund ongoing improvements.  Family Fun Day will run from 11 a.m. to  3 p.m.  Admission will be $5 per person, which will get everyone access to all the fun and games, except the Dunk Tank.  Food will be available at additional but reasonable cost.
