Wilder Library awarded grant for children’s books

A grant and donations added 78 new books to Wilder's children’s collection

Supporters and staff of the Wilder Library celebrate the addition of 78 new children’s books to its collection.

The Wilder Memorial Library in Weston has been awarded a Books for Children grant from the Libri Foundation.

This past spring, the library wrote a Books for Children grant because its children’s nonfiction collection was in desperate need of new material. With the help of its patrons and board members, the library raised the required $350, which was matched two-to-one by the Libri Foundation.

A total of $1,050 was awarded for purchasing new children’s books. The library also received an unexpected bonus of $350 worth of math and science books, thanks to a donation made by Bill Strawbridge and Meg Wallhagen. In total, the library added 78 new books to its children’s collection.

The library thanks all of the donors who helped make this grant possible and invites the public to enjoy the new books with their children and grandchildren. Some of the new books will be featured at the weekly Story Time on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. For more information, visit the website www.wildermemoriallibrary.org or call 802-824-4307.
