Jan. 9: Grounded4Life holds old-fashioned game night

Grounded4Life invites you to bring your favorite non-electronic game and join in on some old fashioned fun at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9 in the lower level of the Chester Baptist Church, 162 Main St., Chester.

Ben and Rebekah Hamblett will provide musical entertainment. The event is free. Doors open at 6:30 with food, coffee, fellowship and conversation.

Beginners knitting series forming at the Chester Community Art Garden

Jan. 14: Learn to knit at Chester Community Art Garden

Located in the back of the Moon Dog Cafe, 287 S. Main St. in Chester, the Chester Community Art Garden will begin offering a beginning knitting series of classes from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning Jan. 14.

Local fiber artist Susan Fentin will teach the course. Participants will make their own knitting needles, learn basic stitches and make several craft items including a knitted beanbag. No experience is required, although students with prior knowledge will be able to move on to more complicated projects.

Open to ages 8 and up, the class runs six consecutive Wednesdays. Cost is $65 plus a $10 materials fee. For more information or to register, contact Emily Burkland at: theartgardenvt@gmail.com or 802-289-3071.

The Art Garden is open for drop-in art experiences  from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday. The cost to drop in is $5 to $10 per artist. Sibling discounts and sliding scale always available for classes and studio time.
