The Chester Telegraph announced today that it has entered into an agreement with NewsBank through which The Telegraph’s contents will become part of NewsBank’s Access World News, a web-based searchable archive that provides access to more than 9,000 newspapers and information sources from around the globe.

Founded in 1972, with headquarters in Naples, Fla., and an operations and production facility in Chester, NewsBank Inc. is a leading provider of news and information to public libraries, colleges and universities, schools, government and military libraries, genealogists and others worldwide.

Through partnerships with publishers and other entities, NewsBank has compiled databases containing millions of articles from newspapers around the world.

“Right now – in cities and towns of all sizes – news is happening,”said Chuck Palsho, Chief Content Officer of NewsBank, “Local journalists are reporting on these events and issues for news organizations of every size, and increasingly, in every type of format.”

“We are pleased to partner with The Chester Telegraph, not only because we happen to live and work here, but also because the content is important. News happens everywhere – even in a small community like Chester – and that’s why our collection has such tremendous research value.”

Owned and operated by Telegraph Publishing LLC and founded in 2012, The Chester Telegraph is the only professionally produced newspaper in Chester and surrounding communities including Andover, Grafton, Londonderry and Weston.

“When we started The Telegraph more than three years ago, people told us that nothing ever happens in small-town Vermont, that we’d be hard-pressed to find news to report,” said Cynthia L. Prairie, Chester Telegraph editor and publisher. “But we often find ourselves stretching to cover what’s happening. We’ve been committed to quality reporting of news for a widening area and we are very proud that NewsBank sees the value of our hard work in its service.”

The Telegraph’s articles will continue to be available to readers at www.chestertelegraph.org in addition to NewsBank’s worldwide subscription service.
