Norma Ippolito of Chester received the top two awards at the Vermont Quilt Festival held this past weekend at the Champlain Valley Expo in Essex Junction.

Along with a ribbon for Exceptional Merit, her quilt, “Celestial Sedona,” won ribbons for Best of Show and the Governor’s Award for the best Vermont Quilt.

This is the first time in the history of the show that the top two awards went to the same quilt. The Vermont Quilt Festival is the oldest quilt show in New England and will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2016. Norma is amazingly talented and dedicated to her art. It’s wonderful to see her receive the recognition that she deserves, and it was fabulous to see the look on her face when she found out. I’m still grinning every time I think about it.

Crazy Beautiful! Congratulations, Norma! Well deserved awards. The piecework and stitching that is able to be seen here is breathtaking! I can’t imagine how long this took to create!
