SAPA-TV expands hours; re-certification for Kurtin Hattin’s Fine

SAPA-TV expands hours with classic cartoons, movies

SAPA TV, Springfield’s public access cable station, has recently expanded its on-air hours with two new programming blocks. Broadcast hours for Channel 8 are now 7 a.m. to approximately 3 a.m., up from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The Classic Cartoons block runs from 7 to 8 a.m. weekdays, 7 to 9 a.m. on Saturdays and 7 to 7:30 a.m. on Sundays. It features public domain cartoons that were produced between the 1930s and the 1960s, and is suitable for all ages.

Late movies now air at 11 p.m., and include more selections from the public domain, including dramas, westerns and comedies. Starting at 1 a.m. is the new Lunavision block, which showcases eccentric productions from public access TV stations locally and nationally. This includes a number of “horror host” programs, in which public access hosts introduce viewers to unusual films, generally science fiction or horror. Lunavision airs seven days a week from 1 to approximately 3 a.m.

SAPA TV airs on cable systems in Springfield, Weathersfield and Chester, Vt., and across the river in Charlestown, N.H. The full schedules for both Channel 8 and Channel 10 can be viewed at sapatv.org.
