State seeks input on long range plan for Ascutney parks and wildlife areas

A Long Range Management Plan has been prepared for five parcels of state land known as the Ascutney Management Unit, and the Departments of Forests, Parks and Recreation and Fish & Wildlife is seeking public input regarding the plan.

Vermont Agency of Natural ResourcesThe AMU includes Little Ascutney Wildlife Management Area, Mt. Ascutney State Park, Skitchewaug Wildlife Management Area, Weathersfield Wildlife Management Area and Wilgus State Park, and comprises 4,378 acres in the towns of Springfield, Weathersfield, West Windsor and Windsor.

The LRMP will guide management on the parcel for the next 25 years and schedules numerous recreation, habitat, and forest management projects. A copy of the draft plan can be found at the VT Forests, Parks & Recreation website here.
