Marketing pro to speak at Chester Rotary evening event

On Thursday, June 2, at 5:15 p.m., Kim Dixon, owner of Insights LLC, a marketing business, will address the Chester Rotary’s First Thursdays meeting at the Fullerton Inn, on the Common in Chester.

Dixon has provided valuable information about effective marketing through free community workshops throughout Vermont for the past five years. The program has successfully helped those in multiple industries including tourism, non-profits, health and manufacturing.

The event is free and is open to the public. Reservations are not necessary but for planning purposes, including our free hors d’oeuvre buffet, please register at chestervtrotary@gmail.com.

Crown Point Board of Realtors announces its first annual Golf for a Cause event, a fundraiser for families in need.

It begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6 at Okemo Valley Golf Club at Okemo Mountain Resort, 77 Okemo Ridge Road in Ludlow.

The experience is for golfers and non-golfers alike. Join a foursome on the 18-hole course or if you are a new golfer, there will be lessons and a driving and putting competition.

Prizes include a new Chevrolet Malibu for a hole-in-one, as well as auction/raffle prizes. Following the golfing, participants can attend a BBQ dinner.

The group is still looking for foursomes and hole sponsors. Entry cost is $100 per golfer, $70 for Okemo Valley Golf Club members, $70 new/non-golfer with lesson, and $25 for dinner only. Puppets in Education visits Elm Hill Primary School in Springfield

Vermont-based nonprofit Puppets in Education received funding from Springfield Buick GMC for a day of prevention and inclusion programs on Tuesday, May 31 at Springfield’s Elm Hill Primary School.

PiE teaches Elm Hill Primary School students tips and offer tools on how to stand up for oneself and how to be a caring bystander. In the process they hope  to build up the school’s ability to decrease bullying behaviors by supporting a safe school culture.

Springfield Buick GMC believes in the importance of community stewardship and strives to touch children’s lives, changing them for the better by sponsoring the Puppets in Education programming.

Puppets in Education is in its 34th year serving children and adults. PiE began as Kids on the Block-Vermont in 1982 with four puppets and has grown to 23 programs addressing many societal concerns, including bullying, abuse, childhood obesity, mental health, drug use and other topics.
