The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company launches its 80th anniversary season with the musical adventure, Man of La Mancha, which begins performances at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 at Weston Playhouse, 12 Park St. in Weston.

Carried by Mitch Leigh’s iconic score, with songs like “The Impossible Dream” and “Dulcinea,” the musical is a play-within-a-play. Author Miguel de Cervantes stands ready to face trial by the Spanish Inquisition. When robbed of his beloved manuscript, he attempts to prove its merit through a reenactment of its story, enlisting other prisoners to play the characters in his play. And so begins the timeless story of Don Quixote and his quest.

The musical runs through Saturday, July 16. Show times are Tuesday–Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday and Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at 3 p.m. The show is two hours without intermission. The post-show cabaret is $12 admission. Reservations for the show and cabaret can be made by calling 802-824-5288 or by visiting westonplayhouse.org.
