Aug. 25: Paint the Garden Path at a Paint and Sip

Experience hands-on demos of painting techniques while exploring color and composition, and produce a Monet-esque painting of garden flowers from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25 at 103 Artisans Marketplace at 7 Pineview Drive in Chester.

Artist Lisa Murray teaches the group how to capture the beauty of a garden pathway. Students walk away with a completed painting. No previous painting skills required.

All materials for an 11-inch x 14-inch acrylic painting will be provided by the instructor. Students should wear old clothes or a smock/apron. Wine and/or beer, snacks, specials and their regular menu will be available for purchase during the evening from the GreenLeaf Café.

Aug. 26: Jason O’Brian plays at Grounded4Life

Guitarist Jason O’Brian entertains at 7 p.m. on Friday Aug. 26 at Grounded4Life, a coffee house on the lower level of the Chester Baptist Church, 162 Main St., in Chester. Admission is free.

O’Brian is from Brattleboro and his style of music is influenced by a variety of genres including country, gospel, bluegrass, and rock and roll. Enjoy a night of acoustic guitar, song, and discussion.

Aug. 26-28: Classic vehicle weekend in Ludlow

Okemo Valley Antique & Classic Car/Motorcycle Show weekend begins Friday, Aug. 26 with a Fun Run scavenger hunt. Pick up a list of questions at the Okemo Valley Chamber of Commerce office in Ludlow anytime after 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26. The rally covers about 30 miles.

Registrants are given a prescribed route and must find the answers to supplied questions as they travel the roads. This is an untimed event but participants supply the total mileage for their trip. Answer sheets will be collected at the “Cruise In” Friday night. Look for the blue mini truck at Benson’s Chevrolet in Ludlow where the answer sheets are collected. The participant with most correct answers wins. Three prizes will be awarded.

The scavenger hunt is followed by a  Cruise In  from 5 to 8 p.m. at Benson’s Chevrolet at 16 Pond St. in Ludlow. Trophy for Best Chevy will be awarded at the  Cruise In  along with early car/motorcycle show registration. The first 50 people receive dash plates and cookies from Big Eyes Bakery. Pizza will be for sale from Goodman’s American Pie.

On Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27 and 28 visit Okemo Valley Antique & Classic Car/Motorcycle Show on the grounds of Fletcher Farm School for the Arts and Crafts at 611 VT-103 in Ludlow.

Cars and motorcycles from 1910 to 1989 will be represented and judged. Car enthusiasts, novices, family, friends and guests have a chance to vote for their favorite car in the  People’s Choice competition.

On Saturday the show runs 10 a.m.–3 p.m. and entry costs $5 per person. At 3 p.m. a parade travels to the Chester Green for more activities and a pie-eating contest. Children can visit the Route 103 Auto Repair booth to play with remote control cars for a donation, which will be given to a local charity. Chester will have various other activities and vendors on the Green.

On Sunday, the show is 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Fletcher Farm School with an Awards Ceremony at 2 p.m.
