S. Derry Library seeks vendors for Oct. 8 fair;
Golf tourney raises $20,000 for hospital solar install

Vendors are wanted for the South Londonderry Free Library Street Fair, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8. Proceeds for this one-day event benefit the library, located at 15 Old School St. off of Thompsonburg Road. To participate, call Susie Wyman at 824-3537.

The South Londonderry Free Library, first organized in 1902, offers over 20,000 volumes in all categories; free internet access; special programming for children and adults and on-going art exhibits spotlighting local artists. Mary Butera is the librarian.

Golf tourney raises $20,000 for solar install at Springfield Hospital

The 16th annual Springfield Hospital Challenge, held on Thursday, Sept. 15 at Okemo Valley Golf Club, brought in more than $20,000 to help support the hospital’s upcoming solar power installation.

Twenty-five teams of golfers competed for awards and raffle prizes and 40 organizations underwrote the tournament, which included a box lunch, dinner buffet, complimentary refreshments on the course and a gift to every golfer of a stainless steel thermos.

Tournament sponsors were Black River Produce, The Common Man, H.P. Cummings Construction, Griffin Construction, IPG Employee Benefits Specialists, Joseph Architects, Kinney Drugs Foundation, Richard Marasa MD, NFP, Springfield AutoMart, and Springfield Printing Corp.
