Thelma Holden, 58, avid bird-watcher, adored her grand ‘littles’

Thelma Jean (Witham) Holden, 58, of Deerfield, N.H., passed away on Dec. 3, 2016, surrounded by her family, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

Ms. Holden was born in Laconia, N.H., to Maurice and Isabel (Fontaine) Witham on March 17, 1958.  She grew up in Deerfield and attended Raymond and Deerfield schools. She married Jeffrey Holden in August 1979 and moved to Vermont, where they raised their family.  She worked as a childcare provider, an emergency services dispatcher and a foster parent while in Vermont. Recently she moved back to her hometown of Deerfield and had reconnected with old friends.

Ms. Holden loved sewing, crafting, fishing and was an avid birdwatcher. She had a knack for drawing in rare birds to her feeders.  She was a lover of people and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her “grand littles.”

Ms. Holden was preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Isabel; brothers Edward Witham and Rob Witham; sisters-in-law Beverly and Pauline; grandson Grafton Holden-Mount; and nephew D.J. Witham.

She is survived by daughter Lee Holden-Mount and her children Maerwyn, Cabot, Benson and Thatcher of Durham, N.H.; daughter Abbie Holden of Chester, Vt. and her daughter Acadia Cutchill of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and son Adam Holden and his wife Patricia and their son Jaden of Chester, Vt. She is also survived by brothers John Witham of Maine, Bill Witham of Springfield, Vt. and Tom Witham of  Deerfield, N.H.; sister Ruth  Dow of Belmont, N.H.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec.  10, 2016 at the Deerfield Community Church, 15 Church St., Deerfield, N.H.  Burial will be held in the spring.  Arrangements are being made by Brewitt Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Epping, N.H.

Flowers will be accepted at Brewitt Funeral Home in Epping through Friday. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical staff for the wonderful care while Thelma was hospitalized.
