Vermont State Police have arrested a man they say robbed the Mascoma Savings Bank at Routes 12 and 5 in Hartland Windsor on Saturday morning.

In a press release this afternoon, police say that over the weekend they received information that Stephen Silva, 45, of Springfield, Mass., may have been involved in the crime.

Today, they searched the motel room where Silva was staying as well at the automobile he was driving. According to the press release, evidence of the robbery, including the clothing worn was found.

Police also found that the car that Silva was driving was stolen from Massachusetts with a license plate  stolen from Connecticut.

Silva was charged with robbery, aggravated operation without owner‘s consent and possession of stolen property. He will be arraigned tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at the Windsor Superior Court Criminal Division. Until then he is being held at Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield on bail of $50,000.
