Wardsboro man indicted, pleads not guilty to murder in neighbor’s death

On Friday, Dec. 9, a state grand jury indicted a Wardsboro man in the Oct. 18 shooting death of his neighbor.

On Oct. 18, 2016, Vermont State Police responded to a shooting on Gilfeather Road in Wardsboro. According to a press release today, State Police say they determined Kirby Staib, age 42,  had been shot and killed by Kevin Parker, age 57. The two were neighbors.

Last Friday, a state grand jury returned a two-count indictment on   against Parker.  Parker was arrested today and taken to the Criminal Division of  the Vermont Superior Court for Windham County, where he was arraigned on charges of second degree murder and manslaughter. His attorney entered a plea of not guilty.

Parker is being held at Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield on $25,000 bail.
