March 9: Mud Season opens at Misty Valley Books

Meet writer Ellen Stimson at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 9 at Misty Valley Books, 58 Common St. when she will discuss Mud Season. After a getaway in the Green Mountain State, Stimson and her family made up their minds: “We’re moving to Vermont!” The reality, they quickly learned, was a little muddier than they’d imagined.

Most of what she writes in Mud Season, says Stimson, is true. In a self-deprecating fashion, Mud Season chronicles Stimson’s transition from city life to rickety farmhouse. When she then decided she wanted to own and operate the village store in Dorset, she learned the hard way that “improvements” are not always welcomed by folks who like things just fine the way they’ve always been. Can the citified newcomer turn the tide of mistrust before she ruins the business altogether?

A book signing and reception will follow Stimson’s presentation, which is open to the public and free of charge. For more information call Misty Valley Books at 802-875-3400 or visit www.mvbooks.com.
