Playhouse seeks 15 high schoolers for free summer theater program

Weston Playhouse Theatre Co.’s 2014 Student Ambassador Weston Playhouse logoprogram is accepting applications through May 23 for its summer students program. The Student Ambassador program will give up to 15 high school students the opportunity to attend six of Weston’s summer shows free of charge. The program will also give students an insider’s look at the way professional productions evolve, with backstage tours, first read-throughs, tech rehearsals, actor/director talk-backs and more.

Student Ambassadors will be provided with a ticket to all six of Weston’s MainStage and OtherStages productions. They may bring a guest to any and all shows for $10 per show. These students also serve as emissaries who can help illuminate the value of theater by sharing their experiences with friends and neighbors.

Students are selected based on their interest in theater — acting, writing, directing, costumes etc. including general interest as an engaged patron — as illustrated through a brief essay and an application, available on the playhouse website. The application deadline is May 23. Selected students will be notified of their acceptance into the program by May 30.
