Springfield Rotary announces winner in speech contest

Springfield High School junior Jordan Phelps was selected as the winner of the recent “Four-Way Test” Speech Contest sponsored by the Springfield Rotary Club. Phelps received a first place award of $75 and will represent the club in the District Semifinals in Henniker, N.H., on Sunday, April 27.
SHS Senior Cameron Chiesa was the winner of $50 for second place.
Each participant was required to do a speech of between 5 and 7 minutes on how to apply Rotary’s “Four Way Test” in everyday relationshipse. The work of Rotary is based upon what is called the “Four Way Test” which is:
- Is it the truth?
- Is it fair to all concerned?
- Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
- Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
The winner of the District Finals will receive a top prize of $700. Those will be held as part of the annual Rotary District 7870 Conference in Stowe on May 24.
