Black River Good Neighbor Services, the area’s primary distributor of USDA and emergency

food assistance, has developed with LPC-TV, Ludlow’s local access cable TV station, a new cooking show.  Across Our Table is hosted by  Doris Eddy, vice president of BRGNS, and Peter LaBelle.

“Some people find the food that we distribute to be a bit

repetitive, so we decided to bring together different recipes using that food and to give those

recipes out to anyone who asks. That led us to demonstrating the recipes too,” said Eddy.

The demonstrations led to the collaboration with LPC-TV. The show

is produced by BRGNS and filmed, edited and broadcast by LPC-TV. Eddy and

LaBelle demonstrate how to prepare three simple,

nutritious and tasty recipes that are building blocks for family meals.

Subscribers can watch Across Our Table on LPC-TV or it can be watched at www.lpctv.org/videos. All the recipes demonstrated on

the show are available on Black River Good Neighbors’ website, www.BRGN.org. For more

information regarding the show, please call BRGNS at 802-228-3663.

BRGNS sets up container garden

The employees at Black River Good Neighbor Services has established a container garden in the parking lot at the thrift store, 37B Main St. in Ludlow.

“The container garden came about through a ‘Green Thumbs at Work’ grant with the Vermont Department of Health and the Vermont Community Garden Network as sponsors,” said BRGNS vice president Robert Kottkamp. “The grant is for improving the health of our employees through increasing exercise and the amount of fresh produce in their diets.”
