ACE aviation training camp for kids begins Monday July 14.

he weeklong FAA Aviation Career Education Camp for children 12 to 15 begins on Monday, July 14 at Hartness State Airport in North Springfield.

The camp offers boys and girls exciting and educational aviation oriented activities overseen by professional, military and civilian experts who will indtroduce participants to a wide variety of aviation careers, exploring aerodynamics and principles of flight, teamwork, flight safety, as well as building and launching model rockets.

Weather permitting, and with the consent of a parent or guardian, flights in airplanes, helicopters, and gliders are provided. Also scheduled are visits by the classic P-51 Mustang “Old Crow,” a Cessna CJ-3 executive jet, and one of the US Air Force/National Science Foundation C-130 transport aircraft that ferries supplies to the South Pole.*

Participation is limited and only a few slots remain. Tuition is $325 for the five-day ACE Camp.
