Carol Cole became president of the Springfield Rotary Club for the 2014-2015 year at a recent meeting. Cole follows Jeanice Garfield, who enjoyed a successful term as president, embracing the theme of “Peace & Justice” for the club.

As president, Cole said she would focus on the Rotary International yearly theme “Light Up Rotary,” with the intention of bringing more focus to the efforts of Rotary in the local community. Several local projects are being explored as well as efforts to expand the club’s membership base.

Service Above Self is the club’s motto as Rotarians give of themselves to benefit others. Some of the club’s activities include the annual Food Drive, supporting local students education through scholarships as well as working with Rotary International to eliminate polio and provide safe drinking water in disadvantaged countries around the world.

The service of Rotarians crosses all borders and as a Rotarian what one can give is greatly appreciated by so many. For more information about the Springfield Rotary Club, including becoming a member, contact Carol Cole at 802-885-2500.
