Nov. 27: Waller family kicks off Christmas tour

John Waller returns to Grounded4Life making the coffeehouse his first venue on an annual Christmas tour. This time his family joins him in song at 7 p.m. on Nov. 27 at Grounded4Life in the lower level of the Chester Baptist Church, 162 Main St., Chester.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with food, coffee, fellowship and conversation. The event is free and open to the public.

Dec. 3: Education speaker at Rotary First Thursday

The Rotary Club of Chester hosts former high school teacher Larry Carbonett as the First Thursday speaker from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3 at the Fullerton Inn, 40 The Common, in Chester. There is no charge to attend.

The talk, Valuing the Unmeasurable in Education, helps interested parties, especially teachers, recognize and appreciate the significance of their day-to-day interactions with  students. Carbonetti was a high school English teacher for 30 years, 20 of those spent in Vermont. In 2002, he founded Crow Hill Consulting, which provides instruction for businesses in writing, communication and leadership development.

Dec. 4: Fourth annual Londonderry tree lighting

The 4th Annual Londonderry Community Tree Lighting is at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 at the Mountain Marketplace at 5700 Vermont Route 100 in Londonderry.

Nordic Harmonii will lead the audience in singing Christmas carols and Santa will appear to hear children’s wishes. Immediately following, the community is invited to an Open House at Neighborhood Connections where cookies and hot chocolate will be served.

Dec. 5: Rock Library hosts holiday party and raffle

The Friends of the Rockingham Library is hosting a Community Holiday Party at the library at 65 Westminster St. in Bellows Falls from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5.

A free event, the Stringfield Springers of Saxtons River will perform and holiday refreshments will be served. The group is selling raffle tickets for donated items and a 50/50 raffle. They are also holding a silent auction.

Prizes are on display at the library and raffle tickets are being sold at the front desk for $1 each or 6 for $5.

Winning tickets will be drawn during the event. Proceeds from the silent auction and raffle will benefit the Friends of the Rockingham Free Public Library. For more information, email programming@rockinghamlibrary.org, call 802-463-4270, visit rockinghamlibrary.org or the library.

Dec. 5: St. Luke’s Annual Christmas Tea and Sale

This year’s St. Luke Annual Christmas Tea and Sale is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 313 Main St. in Chester.

This luncheon  event will feature sandwiches, finger foods, cookies, cake and other items. Luncheon tickets can be reserved for $6.

In addition to lunch items, they will have ornaments, baked goods, jams and jellies and Grandma’s Attic white elephant table.
