Dec. 17: GMUHS hosts Winter Concert

The Green Mountain Union High School Music Department presents its free Winter Concert at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17 in the auditorium at GMUHS, Route 103 South in Chester.

The Middle School Band and Chorus will perform as will the High School Band, Chorus, Select Choir and Jazz Band.

Dec. 17: Saxtons River Bell Ringers  perform at Rock Library

bellringerssmallwThe public is invited to hear hand bell musicians play holiday favorites at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17 at the Rockingham Library, 65 Westminster St. in Bellows Falls.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Rockingham Library, the family-friendly concert is free.

Dec. 18: Ludlow readies for Community Christmas Celebration

Ludlow’s annual Community Christmas Celebration will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18 in the Ludlow Town Hall Auditorium  at 37 S. Depot St. in Ludlow.

The celebration features students from Ludlow Elementary School and Black River Middle and High School as well as local performers including Joey Blane, George Thomson, Andy Ohotnicky, Kasia Karazim, Linda Thomson and Ashlee Shook performing a variety of Christmas entertainment.

Dec. 19: Magic, music and more for holiday

The Claremont Opera House Repertory Theater Co. presents Dylan Tenney’s “Holiday Magic and More” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 58 Opera House Square in Claremont, N.H.

Tenney’s act features hypnotism, illusions, mentalism and audience participation. The holiday show will also feature other acts, including Stardancer Studios Dancers and Moxley Union Band.

There will be door prizes; 50/50 raffles and Santa will visit. A cash bar will be open before the show and during intermission in the atrium gallery.

Dec. 20: TubaChristmas at Opera House

Claremont Opera House hosts a TubaChristmas at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20 at 58 Opera House Square, Claremont, N.H.

The public is invited to attend and enjoy traditional Christmas carols arranged for TubaChristmas by composer Alex Wilder and conducting by Louie Barbosa. Admission is free, though donations are welcomed.

Dec. 20: Julie Olsson sings at Grafton church

Soprano Julie Olsson performs a variety of music at the Grafton Church, 55 Main St., in Grafton, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20.

The concert includes arias by Verdi and Puccini, cabaret songs by Kurt Weill and Poulenc, and musical theater pieces by Stephen Sondheim and Jason Robert Brown, ending with seasonal favorites. Olsson will be joined by American tenor James Anderson and accompanied by Kenneth Olsson. The concert is free, although donations are appreciated. The church is handicap-accessible.
