March 18: Family Game Night at Grounded4Life

Grounded4Life offers a free night of fun for the family beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 18 downstairs at First Baptist Church at 162 Main St. in Chester. Bring your favorite non-electronic game for some old fashioned fun. Create your own signature sundae from a selection of toppings on the Goodie Table. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with food, coffee, fellowship and conversation.

March 19: Learn about animal life in winter

Weston’s Wilder Memorial Library hosts an interactive program to discover how animals survive in the cold from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 19 at 24 Lawrence Hill Road.

The program explores animal hibernation, migration and winter adaptations using lots of touchable items including furs, feathers and pelts.

March 19: Texas Hold ’Em in Proctorsville

Enjoy an afternoon of cards with friends and neighbors. Gethsemane Church is hosting a Texas Hold ’Em Poker game 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19 at the Proctorsville Fire House at 513 Main St. in Proctorsville.

The game begins with a $75 Buy-In with Re-Buys available. Pay out is based on the number of players. Pay off will be 60 percent of the proceeds from the Buy-In and Re-Buys. Rules are available ahead of time. There will be a food concession available. To reserve a seat at the poker table, call 802-484-7431 or show up at 11:30 a.m. and register.

March 23: Discussion on cougars returning to East Coast

The Cavendish Community and Conservation Association sponsors a presentation by Susan C. Morse of Keeping Track about the return of the cougar to the East Coast at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23 at the Cavendish Elementary School, 573 Main St. in Proctorsville.

Cougars are being seen in eastern North America and some are attempting to recolonize their former habitats. Join the CCCA for an introduction to cougar biology and ecology in a broad diversity of habitats. Morse also will discuss latest confirmations of cougars in the east, including the recently documented suitability of a substantial amount of wild habitats.

Morse  is regarded as an expert in natural history and one of the top wildlife trackers in North America.

Donations suggested are $5 for adults and $2 for children. Tickets are available in Proctorsville at Crows Bakery at 73 Depot St. and at the Cavendish Fletcher Community Library at 573 Main St. They also can be obtained by mail or at the door. March 26: Annual Easter Egg Hunt at CAES

Rotary Club of Chester announces the annual Easter Egg Hunt to be held at 9 a.m. sharp on Saturday, March 26 at Chester-Andover Elementary School, 72 Main St.  This event is open to all Chester and Andover children from preschool to sixth grade.

Parents are advised to arrive with their children before 9 a.m., so as not to miss the opportunity for participation.
