Visit Whiting Library

Whiting Library invites the public to an exhibit of watercolor paintings by Betsy Boundy on display during library hours: Monday and Friday 10 a.m.  to 6 p.m.; Wednesday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The exhibit runs through Wednesday, June 29.

Boundy’s work includes images of vases of flowers, delicate roses, landscapes of Florida beaches, the hills of Vermont and the deserst of Afghanistan.

holds ‘Grease’ auditions

Claremont Opera House hosts auditions for the musical Grease from 6 ro 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, and Wednesday, June 8 at the opera house at 58 Opera House Square in Claremont.

Celtic Mega Band lead contra dance

June 12: Contra dance features BMC Celtic Mega Band

The Brattleboro Music Center’s Celtic Mega Band will provide the music for a Contra Dance, set from 7 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 12. Before the dance there’ll be a beginners’ session is at 6:45 p.m. at the Stone Church, 210 Main St., in Brattleboro. No experience or partner is needed.

Contra dance is a social dance with deep roots in New England history. Caller Nils Fredland will teach each dance and prompt dancers throughout the evening. The BMC Celtic Mega Band is made up of 30 BMC students, ranging in age from 10 to 60-plus. The June 12 performance is the culmination and celebration of a year of music making.

General admission ranges from $10 to $12, with a family rate of $20. Student tickets are $5 for youth students and $8 for college students.
