6-week summer kids camp set for CAES;
free summer kids meals offered in Chester, Ludlow

Summer Camp

The CAES Afterschool Program will be holding six weeks of Summer Camp from Monday, June 20 to Friday July 29, for children entering grades 1 through 7. REAP Summer Camp will be held at Chester Andover Elementary School, 72 Main St.,  and utilize the town pool to engage campers in fun recreational activities.

The camp will be staffed by both CAES school day staff and camp counselors. Each week of camp will have a weekly theme, arts and craft activities as well as academic enrichment and recreational games will be based on these themes.

Breakfast and lunch will be served free to all campers. Limited morning bus transportation is available but families must contact Brendan McNamara before June 1 to set this up. Pickups will happen at designated spots throughout town and not door-to-door service. Click here for the enrollment form.

DAILY SCHEDULE:

We will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. But please send an afternoon snack along with your camper.

8:30-9:00 arrival/breakfast
9 -10:30 enrichment time
10:30-noon recreation time
Noon-12:30 LUNCH
12:30-1:30 enrichment time
1:30-2 p.m. walk to pool
2 p.m.-3:30 recreation time at pool
3:30-4 p.m. walk to CAES
4 p.m. parent/guardian pickup

Costs

Resident Weekly fee: $80
Non-Resident Weekly fee: $90
Daily Fee: $25
Drop in Daily Fee:$30
Early drop off (8 a.m.): $5/week
Late pick up (4:30 p.m.): $5/week

Siblings are half off after paying for one for Chester residents. Because we are a licensed child care provider through the state we are able to accept child care subsidy. If you are currently not enrolled in this program please visit http://dcf.vermont.gov/cdd/

Enrollment is limited to the first 30 children, so sign up quickly. If you need assistance to help pay for camp contact the Springfield Area Parent Child Center at 886-5242 or go online to http://dcf.vermont.gov/cdd/child_care_financial_assistance.  The income rates have changed so if previously you thought you wouldn’t qualify you may now.

Free summer meals for children offered in Chester, Ludlow

Green Mountain Union High School is participating in the Summer Food Service Program for Children.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the program is designed to ensure that children who rely on free or reduced meals during the school year continue to have adequate nutrition throughout the summer. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. There will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals are available to all children 18 years of age or younger at the location shown below.

The program will be offered at Green Mountain Union High School, Chester-Andover Elementary School and the Ludlow Community Center.  Breakfast will be served from 7 to 8 a.m.; lunch from noon to 1 p.m.
