Spend a day discovering the charming, rural town of Andover at the Andover Day Fair. Taste locally-grown produce, listen to local musicians, take a chance on a raffle, learn to fly fish, and shop regional crafts, all to benefit the Andover Scholarship Fund for local students heading to college.
There is no entrance or parking fee, but proceeds of the sale of food, T-shirts and raffle tickets go to support the Andover Project Committee’s scholarship.
Listen to music by two homegrown musical talents. The renowned Speckers Band featuring fiddle icon John Specker, along with daughters Lila and Ida Mae, will play rousing old-time fiddle music. Triple bows slice the air, heartfelt vocals tell it like it is, and bodies sway in stylistic synchronicity. ‘
The adaptable rock trio, Totally Submerged, will cover timeless Beatles and other classic rock favorites as well as original tunes.
Local farmers, crafters and artisans will be selling soaps, quilts, honey, beeswax candles, jewelry, note cards, baby blankets and bibs, Arbonne beauty supplies, doll clothes, flowers, baked goods, as well as mushrooms and other fresh produce. There will be hot dogs, sausage and peppers, meatball subs, and other food and drinks available at the concession stand.
Learn to fly-fish with free casting lessons from Orvis instructor Kyle Leard, and take a chance on the raffle with loads of prizes to win.
There will be plenty of old-fashioned fun for the kids, including a visit from Smokey Bear, a children’s wood workshop, an observation beehive, and a close-up look at a fire truck and an ambulance.
