Meet author Tom Farmen and his dog 9-year-old chocolate Lab Bessie, who has progressive retinal atrophy and is now completely blind.

His book chronicles her slow fade to sightlessness and provides life lessons for all ages.

Bessie continues to live life to the fullest, joining Tom and his wife Ashley on daily hikes in the woods, off-leash, as she skillfully navigates the world around her.

She also continues to retrieve on land and in the water using her heightened senses of hearing and smell.
