Owen Nied is an amazing local musician who combines jazz-infused indie pop with virtuosic guitar playing. He also plays bass, piano, ukulele and percussion.
Nied also performs with a trio called The Onlys, which just released a new album titled Alright. He also plays in a “new grass” duo called Owen and Sam in Amherst, Mass., and a jazz duo performing original songs and jazz standards in London called Spooky Tricycle.
Nied began touring at age 11, after he won a YouTube contest and was flown to England to perform at a music festival. He returned to the festival the next year as a featured performer. He has toured the United States, England, France and the Netherlands.
He received a scholarship to the Berklee College Summer Jazz Program, had a summer stint at the Vermont Jazz Center and just returned from studying music and film at Goldsmiths-University of London. He also scored two seasons of modern dance for AirDance New Mexico in Albuquerque
