Meals on Wheels serves Chester, Andover, Springfield, Perkinsville and Weathersfield with a volunteer staff who delivers hot meals every day of the week to seniors who have difficulty cooking. It also provides a Senior Community Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at its Union Street location on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Meals to those under 60 with a disability can be approved by the Vermont Center for Independent Living. Days and hours of operation: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday – Friday. Meals on Wheels main office is at 139 Main St. in Springfield.

About the Author: Cynthia Prairie has been a newspaper editor more than 30 years. She has worked at such publications as the Raleigh Times, the Baltimore News American, the Buffalo Courier Express, the Chicago Sun-Times and the Patuxent Publishing chain of community newspapers in Maryland.
