Leonardo: The Works @ Immanuel Episcopal Church
Nov 22 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

To be released on the 500th anniversary of his death, Leonardo: The Works is the definitive film about Leonardo da Vinci and the first to truly tell the whole story. Every attributed painting, including The Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, Lady with an Ermine, Ginevra de’ Benci, Madonna Litta, Virgin of the Rocks, and more than a dozen others, will be seen on the big screen in ultra HD quality.

This film also looks afresh at Leonardo’s life – his inventiveness, his sculptural skills, his military foresight, and his ability to navigate the treacherous politics of the day – through the prism of his art.

Tickets can be purchased at Village Square Booksellers in Bellows Falls, by phone, or by clicking the TICKETS link above.

Corner House @ Immanuel Episcopal Church
Nov 23 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Stone Church Arts presents Corner House, spirited songwriters with a dynamic old-time groove. These award-winning instrumentalists create a raw new sound. Clinging whole heartedly to studied traditions, the Boston-based band tends to write and arrange music liberally influenced by Irish, Scottish, Appalachian Stringband, and Bluegrass styles.

On winter eves most suited for warm tea and blankets, Ethan Hawkins (guitar), Louise Bichan (fiddle), and Ethan Setiawan (mandolin) found a musical home in one another. In the autumn of 2017, Corner House debuted at FreshGrass Festival in North Adams, MA, before recording an EP and touring Scotland the following year. Returning from overseas, the three found the illustrious cellist, Casey Murray, living just down the street and invited the contra dance–influenced player to join the fold.

Tickets can be purchased at Village Square Booksellers in Bellows Falls, by phone, or by clicking the TICKETS link above (advance Standard tickets are $15 for seniors using code “senior”).

Pete Seeger 100th Birthday Songfest – Jim Scott Remembers @ First Universalist Parish of Chester
Nov 24 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

We’ll honor Pete Seeger, singing many of his well-loved songs, such as If I Had a Hammer, Turn, Turn, Turn, Where Have All the Flowers Gone and many others.  Led by composer/guitarist Jim Scott, who knew Pete well and collaborated on many projects with the folk legend, we’ll raise our voices for the causes Pete championed and remember the great contributions to our American heritage Pete made in his 94 years of life.

A prolific composer in his own right, Jim brings a warmth and authenticity that turns any size audience into an intimate gathering. His lyrical melodies, well-crafted words, guitar mastery and humorous surprises moved Pete to call him “Some kind of a magician.”  Jim played for years with the Paul Winter Consort and was co-composer of their celebrated Missa Gaia/Earth Mass. A life-long Unitarian Universalist with songs in hymnbooks (Gather the Spirit), he’s visited over 700 UU churches in more than three decades of travels.
