To the editor: Thanks to all who made veterans event at American Legion a success

This letter is being written to follow up on the Saturday, Sept. 19 Veterans Administration event at the American Legion Post 67.

First, I want to recognize and thank the American Legion Post 67 for hosting this event and inviting the team of Veterans Administration representatives from White River Junction. (And the barbecue was fantastic!)

The team from White River arrived at the American Legion at 7:30 a.m. that Saturday, unloaded their belongings and set up their tent. Even before 9 a.m., they had met with three veterans who had questions that needed answering and were in search of assistance.

These important interactions and assistance continued throughout the day. When there was a break in the veterans’ line, the Veterans Administration team mingled with the vendors at the Chester Festival, located next door in Legion Field. Many positive, appreciative comments were heard throughout the day.

By the end of the day, the VA team had helped 29 veterans with various need including benefits, claims, directions and more. Each member state that the event was a great success!

I want to give a shoutout and a thank you to the Veterans Administration team, the American Legion Post 67 and all of those who promoted and supported this event.

Looking ahead, our goal will be to repeat this event in 2027!

And thank you to all who attended on that beautiful day!
