To the editor: During VT Yankee closing, Entergy proved to be a fine company

On Monday, Jan. 19, at approximately 9:30 a.m., 35-plus-year career at Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station in Vernon ended. Although I am disappointed that the plant is being closed, I want to publicly thank Entergy Nuclear Operations for the professional manner in which it closed Vermont Yankee.

Entergy provided nearly a year and a half notice that the plant would close.  Information and seminars were provided to help the employees make the necessary adjustments.  The company provided a financial incentive for those individuals who were willing to remain til closure.  Most of those who wanted to remain Entergy employees were given the opportunity to relocate to another Entergy facility.  In addition, it provided a financial cushion to assist those who are leaving Entergy.

This defines first class treatment of their employees.

I suspect there are few other employers in Vermont who would treat their employees as well.
