Jazz returns to Chester Town Hall Sept. 26

Jazz returns to Chester’s Town Hall at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, as pianist Eugene Uman, director of the Vermont Jazz Center, is joined by four world-class musicians: Steve Cady on bass, George Robinson on drums, Matt Steckler on saxophone and vocalist Bella Holtz.

Known as the “Family Band,” this marvelous quartet interprets the idiom of jazz through extraordinary musicianship, unique arrangements and joyful collaboration.

Like many artists, Uman brings his life experience to his composing and arranging.  Holtz brings her dynamic and unique vocal interpretations of jazz standards and gems from the Great American Songbook with bass, drums and saxophone rounding out this classic ensemble. They blend the deep traditions of jazz with a spectrum of musical and cultural influences resulting in a truly moving and important evening of music.

This concert is presented by Upstairs at Town Hall, a 501(c)(3) community not-profit that sponsors art and cultural events in the beautifully restored Chester Town Hall theater. The theater is a fully accessible venue located at 556 Elm Street in Chester, Vt.

Admission to this concert is free and all are welcome. Donations at the door as well as sponsors and underwriters, enable UATH to offer unique events for Southern Vermont and New Hampshire communities.
