VTica exhibits The Mysterious Mind, offers art workshop

Mysterious Mind Exhibit at VTica

Vermont Institute of Contemporary Arts presents the Mysterious Mind Exhibition, art inspired by Jungian depth psychology, featuring the artwork of five New Englanders.
The exhibition begins with a wine and hors d’oeuvres Opening Reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 1 at VTica, 15 Depot St. It will run during gallery hours through Sunday March 24. As part of the exhibit, Michael Conforti will present two Friday night Gallery Talks, beginning at 7 p.m., Feb. 8 and 15.
The Mysterious Mind artists are Nina Benedetto of Kingston, Mass.; and Vermont artists Joan Curtis of Brandon; Thomas McGraw, Hartland; Mareva Millarc, Middletown Springs; and featured artist Fran Bull, also of Brandon. Sonoma State University’s MA program defines depth psychology as using “the language of Jungian and archetypal psychology to explore methods for understanding and working with deep, soulful aspects of human life.”
The Opening Reception, Gallery Talks and exhibit are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday; noon to 5 p.m., Sunday Parking is available at People’s United Bank or Chester Hardware nearby on Main Street.

Grass & Natural Objects in the Creation of Art Workshop

Fiber artist Emily Traynor leads the workshop “Grass & Natural Objects in the creation of art” at the Vermont Institute of Contemporary Arts, 15 Depot St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9.
Traynor, whose work was seen in VTICA’s “The Uncommon Thread” exhibit, will guide participants in helping them to create their own art by repurposing natural objects, focusing on grasses and a meditative process.
The fee for the workshop is $45 per person. Parking is available at People’s United Bank or Chester Hardware nearby on Main Street.
