Chester police log for Sept. 29 to Nov. 16, 2013

Sunday, Sept. 29, 1:27 p.m.

Police were dispatched to the scene of a motorcycle accident on Route 11 West near the Chester Rod & Gun Club. A woman was found sitting in the eastbound lane surrounded by three motorists. The officer attempted to administer aid to the woman, who was coherent but complained of leg and back pain. Police believe the woman was riding toward Chester at 45 to 50 mph and ran over a section of Route 11, which is under reconstruction, where the asphalt is torn away and the dirt is lower than the roadway. The motorcyclist apparently lost control of her vehicle because her rear tire could not regain traction on the dirt. The woman was taken to Springfield Hospital.

Friday, Oct. 18, 11:49 p.m.

A bicyclist requested a ride to the hospital after reporting that he was run off the road by a white box truck. He could give no further details. The cyclist rode back to his house and he walked to a local pub to use the phone. He complained of a shoulder injury. Police stayed with him until an ambulance arrived.

Thursday, Oct. 24, 12:59 p.m.

A driver traveling southbound on Elm Street heard his cellphone ring. When he went to answer it, the vehicle went off the road, hitting a utility pole and breaking it in half. The vehicle was totaled but there were no injuries.

Saturday, Oct. 26, 7:02 p.m.

Police assisted the Fire Department in searching for a lost hunter off of Popple Dungeon Road.

Tuesday, Oct. 29, 11:38 p.m

A resident off of Depot Street reported a suspicious noise. Noise was made by the upstairs neighbor’s large cat.

Wednesday, Oct. 30, 5:08 p.m

A resident off Main Street called to state that her son had taken her cell phone and car keys. The juvenile said he took his mother’s items because she took away his cell phone. Police were able to return the mother’s items to her, then refereed an intense discussion between the two.

Thursday, Oct. 31, 5:13 p.m

A resident off of Route 103 North advised that he thought some trick or treaters had banged on an exterior door hard enough to break an antique glass panel.

Saturday, Nov. 2, 10:21 a.m

A single-car accident was reported at Route 10 and Gould Road. A passerby spotted tire tracks and the car and called in the accident. The operator  was located and said that a vehicle came around the corner and, as he tried to avoid it, he went off the road and struck a tree. He had left the vehicle and gotten a ride home.

Sunday, Nov. 3, 8:02 a.m.

A man who lives off of Grafton Road called to complain that a neighbor’s daughter was harassing him while he was planting flowers. He said that the daughter was verbally abusive and used foul language. There has been recent issues between the neighbors — over parking, animals and property lines among them. Police spoke with the neighbor’s daughter, who used an expletive to refer to the man. Police advised both parties to call police if there were further possible  confrontations.

10:07 a.m.

Caller found a bicycle in the brush near Andover and Potash Brook roads. Bicycle is a  NorthRock, Model XC6. Owner has not been located.

Friday, Nov. 8, 11:43 a.m.

A cellphone was found by a Main Street resident following trick or treating on Halloween. A found property announcement was placed on the Chester Police Department’s Facebook page.

Saturday, Nov. 16, 9:04 a.m.

A resident off Route 11 called to report hunters on her property, crossing her field and heading over the bank. She said her property was posted, but upon looking, police could not find any posted signs on the entrance to the property or on the section near the road. Police suggested that the owner go to Town Hall to learn about the posting regulations.
