This project has been a multi-year effort planned by the Playground Committee with input from the students of FBS. Committee members include: Jennie Freeman, Karol Allen, Roz Klezos, Jackie Wiley, Karen MacAllister, Dana McNair and Darcy Perry.

The playground equipment was purchased from UltiPlay Parks & Playgrounds, Inc. The recreation consultant for the FBS project was Tyson Taft, who was invaluable during the planning and installation of the playground.

This entire project was made possible through the generous donations of funds, supplies, equipment, volunteers and food. The community build took place from May 15 through May 17, with almost 300 volunteers to help construct the play space.

On behalf of the children of FBS, the Playground Committee would like to express its gratitude to all the individuals and businesses that generously gave to this effort.

The following individuals were vital to the success of this build, donating time, operating equipment and taking on the back breaking job of building in the rain and sun over the four days of the community build: Bruce Humphrey, Cameron Chalmers, Edgar & Chad Stoddard, Curt Cowles, John Ogden, Jon Mowry, Mark Weikert and Greg Harrington.

The committee also thanks The Vermont Country Store, Jamaica Cottage Shop, Vermont Academy, Stratton Mountain School, Burr & Burton Academy and Mountain Campus, Long Trail School, Rugg Valley Landscaping and TPW Management.

Businesses that donated equipment or supplies include: Londonderry Hardware, Aubuchon Hardware in Manchester, Hunter Excavating, Mark Bushway Excavating, C&J Septic and Port A Potties and Brown Enterprises.

On the days of the build, volunteers enjoyed food donations from: Cilantros, Bromley Market, Tony’s Pizza, The Pantry, J.J. Hapgood’s, The American Grill, Mike and Tammy’s, Kate Wright, Peggy Merrow, The Garden Market, Clark’s IGA and Johnny Seesaw’s.

Additional food was provided and prepared by Heather Bohrek and Kristin Coak in the FBS kitchen and the FBS teachers and staff.
