This weekend’s ‘buzz’

The Big Buzz is under way. The annual chainsaw carving event started five years ago by Chester carver Barre Pinkse has grown to 40 carvers who work their craft right in front of the crowd. With carvers coming from as far away as Germany and Sweden, the festival has become international.  Many bring finished items to sell in addition to the works they make during the festival.

One of the most popular events at the festival is the “quick carve” contest, which takes place daily at 1:30 p.m.

The event is being held on the new Chester Festival Grounds across from the Heritage Bakery and Deli on Route 103 south.  Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m Friday through Monday with the “fire sculpture” at dusk on Saturday.  Admission is $5 per person and $15 for a family. ©The Chester Telegraph – 2014
