Lowell Lake Road to close in July for culvert replacement

Beginning July 6, 2015, Lowell Lake Road in Londonderry will be closed to through traffic. A deteriorating culvert near the intersection of Lowell Lake Road and Mountain Lake Road will be replaced. The project is scheduled to take approximately one month and is funded by a VTrans Structures Grant from the State of Vermont. A detour route for residents and visitors to Lowell Lake State Park will be posted. Access will be on Little Pond Road and Mountain Lake Road.

A portion of Mountain Lake Road is a Class 4 road and has been temporarily improved to provide safe access.

Sections of this road are single lane and travelers are cautioned to drive slowly. Driveways on the narrow section will provide pull-offs for vehicles. Travel to Lowell Lake State Park will be maintained but travelers are advised that weekend access may be limited due to parking issues.

Londonderry’s Parking Ordinance prohibits parking on traveled portions of town roads. Park rangers will be available to assist on weekends near the intersection of Little Pond Road and Mountain Lake Road. Questions may be directed to the Town Office at 824-3356. Information about this closure and updates can be found on the Town of Londonderry website, londonderryvt.org.
