Vermont State Police incident log for Sept. 6-Sept. 27, 2015

VSP logo incident reportThe Chester Telegraph’s Vermont State Police Log is a sampling of incidents in Andover, Grafton, Londonderry, Weston and adjacent communities. We do not identify individual victims of crimes nor those who have been arrested.

Sunday, Sept. 6, Peru – At 11:25 a.m., Vermont State Police responded to a report of theft of personal property from a vehicle at the Hapgood Pond campground. The theft occurred between 10 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday. Two of the stolen items were recovered along Spring Hill Road in South Londonderry. State police ask anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in either of these areas should contact them at 802-875-2112.

Sunday, Sept. 6, Grafton – At approximately 7:23 p.m. Vermont State Police from the Rockingham Barracks, received a report of a domestic disturbance, in Eastman Road area of Grafton. Police responded and after an investigation, charged a man with 1st Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault. The accused was processed for the offense and bail was set at $5,000. The accused was lodged at Southern State Correction Facility in Springfield pending an appearance in Windham County Superior Court/Criminal Division on Tuesday Sept. 8.

Tuesday, Sept. 8, Peru – At about 6:30 p.m. VSP received a report of a missing elderly man with dementia who was last seen two hours earlier on his ATV near his residence on Hubble Road in Peru. State police along with Londonderry and Peru Fire & Rescue and Vermont Fish & Wildlife Wardens responded to the residence. The missing man was found at 10:20 p.m. about one third of a mile from the residence on his ATV. The ATV was stuck in place. The man was in good condition and was reunited with his wife.

Tuesday, Sept. 8, Peru – At approximately 5 p.m. troopers from the Rockingham Barracks responded to the Kimball Hill Road area of Westminster for a report of a 74-year-old man with Alzheimer’s who walked away from his house and did not return. With the assistance of the New Hampshire State Police and the Keene Police Department the man was located on Route 12 in Westmoreland, N.H., and returned home.

Tuesday, Sept. 8, Peru – State police responded to a report of breaking and entering and burglary on Hapgood Pond Road in Peru. This is an active investigation. No other information in the report.

Tuesday, Sept. 8, Londonderry – Police responded to a report of theft on Route 100 in Londonderry to find that construction tools had been stolen from a residence. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Thursday, Sept. 10, Peru – On July 26, 2015 at approximately 11 a.m., the Vermont State Police in Rockingham received a report of a theft of firewood from a residence located on Glebe View Lane in South Londonderry. As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, both of Londonderry, were cited for petit larceny after they were located in Peru. They were cited into Windham County Superior Court on Oct. 27, 2015.

Monday, Sept, 21, Londonderry – State police received a report of breaking and entering with a burglary in the Hells Peak Road area. The report says that medicines were taken, but efforts to contact the complainant have failed. The case remains open due to a lack of cooperation from the complainant.

Wednesday, Sept. 23, Londonderry – A citizen waved down a trooper to say that someone had broken into her house in the Sherwood Forest Road area. The officer found that there was evidence – including beer bottles and cigarette butts – that someone had stayed in the house. It appeared that nothing had been taken. The investigation into trespass and vandalism remains open.

Wednesday, Sept. 23, Peru – At 12:45 p.m. a complainant reported that a house that was being renovated was broken into and that a storage container was opened and its contents strewn around. This included household items. At the time, it was difficult to tell whether anything was missing and police are awaiting word from the complainant on that. This investigation remains active.

Wednesday, Sept. 23, Peru – Police responded to a report of fraud in the Rock Bottom Lane area of Peru. This case is under active investigation and no details were available.

Sunday, Sept. 27, Grafton – At about 11 a.m. a resident reported seeing a man dumping tires by the side of Middletown Road about three-quarters of a mile outside of Grafton. The man was driving a beige Chevrolet pickup truck. Investigation found that the man was not so much dumping, but delivering tires to the owner of the property who was using them to build a retaining wall.
