Nov. 3: Managing Life’s Final Decisions symposium continues
The Managing Life’s Final Decisions continues on Nov. 3 with a discussion led by Scott Page, director of Davis Memorial Chapel. He will be covering the funeral and memorial decisions that need to be addressed at this time of life. All events are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Newsbank Conference Center, 352 Main St., Chester.The symposium is designed to help seniors, families and support networks begin discussion of these topics. The speakers have extensive experience in helping to define the questions and seeking their answers.
The next workshop will be Tuesday, Nov. 17: Financial and Legal by attorney William Dakin of Dakin and Benelli and Ron Theissen, of Skygate Financial Group LLC.

Nov. 5: Plight of Central American refugees at Rotary First Thursday
The Rotary Club of Chester welcomes Steve Crofter as its First Thursday speaker at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Fullerton Inn on the Green in Chester. This presentation is free of charge and no reservation is required.Crofter will put a human face on the challenges faced by refugees coming to the United States, based on his experiences volunteering with Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley last winter.
Crofter will also share plans for a trip scheduled forFebruary school vacation at the border in McAllen, Texas. This trip, appropriate for ages 12 through adult, is an opportunity for interested people from the community to further this humanitarian effort.
Crofter lives and works with his partner Laurel Green at Singing River Farm in Rockingham, where their farm’s mission includes goals of environmental and social justice.
Nov. 5: BRAM hosts membership dinner
The Black River Academy Museum will be holding its annual member’s potluck dinner and meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Church of the Annunciation, 7 Depot St., Ludlow. The evening’s speaker will present a slide show of historic Ludlow houses, buildings and blocks.If you have any old photographs of Ludlow you’d like to share, bring them to the meeting. Bring a dish. The group invites the public to help with the fall leaf cleanup at the museum at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7. Nov. 6: Art exhibit coming to Grounded4Life
Unique and inspired items on exhibit at Grounded for Life
The exhibit features 31 original works of 2-D and 3-D art created in a variety of media.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with food, coffee, fellowship and conversation. The program begins at 7 p.m. with free admission.

Nov. 7: Try Hockey for Free event at Vermont Academy
Children participate at Try Hockey for Free Day at Vermont Academy. No experience necessary.
Children are encouraged to bring their own ice skates, although there will be some on hand to borrow.
Sticks and other equipment will be provided. No experience is necessary and first-time skaters are welcome. All participants will receive a free USA Hockey jersey, plus prizes and giveaways.

Nov. 8: LWV’s talk on money in politics
On Sunday, Nov. 8 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. the League of Women Voters of Vermont present a free talk “Money In Politics: Whose Democracy Is It?” with Ann Luther at Montpelier City Hall, Memorial Room, 39 Main St., Montpelier.Luther is the treasurer and advocacy chair, League of Women Voters of Maine and member of the national league’s Campaign Finance Task Force and Constitutional Amendment Study Committee.
