A 34-year-old Andover woman was injured this afternoon after police say a drunken driver collided with her SUV on I-91.

According to press release this evening from the Vermont State Police, at about 3 p.m. today, Erik Polite, 37 of Newport, Vt., was reportedly driving erratically on I-91 in the town of Springfield when his 2013 Toyota Camry collided with a 2003 GMC Envoy driven by Katie Colby, 34, of Andover, causing it to rollover.

Colby sustained minor injuries in the crash and her car was reported as totaled by police.

The result of Polite’s preliminary breath test was 0.320 or four times the legal limit of 0.08, according to police. Polite was arrested and taken to the Westminster barracks, where he was processed for driving under the influence and driving on a criminally suspended licensed. He was cited to appear in Windsor Criminal Court on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Polite was transported to a hospital for medical care.

This evening, State Police confirmed that in July 2015, Polite was stopped on I-91 in Rockingham for driving 106 mph in a 65 mph zone. After a trooper administered a field sobriety test to Polite, who was then sitting in the police cruiser, a passenger, Leeshawn Baker, put the car that Polite was driving in gear and backed across the highway, ending up in the median. Polite was arrested for gross negligent operation and excessive speed.

Both men, listed at the time as residents of Flushing, N.Y.,  were arrested for DUI along with charges for drugs found in the car.
