To the editor: Elizabeth Burrows is the real thing

I am proud to lend my support to Elizabeth Burrows for the Vermont Senate. The moment she heard I was running for the Windsor Selectboard, she reached out — not because she had to, but because that is simply who she is. She has been a mentor and a sounding board throughout my time in local government, and watching her work has only deepened my respect for her. Elizabeth does not just show up at election time. She shows up for her neighbors, consistently and without fanfare, and has for over a decade.

What sets Elizabeth apart is how she thinks about politics itself. She is building something different in Windsor County — events that feel like community gatherings rather than campaign stops, spaces where people share a meal, hear live music, and actually talk to each other. She is genuinely invested in developing the next wave of local leaders, and I am living proof of that commitment.

She understands that too many families in this county are being squeezed — by healthcare costs, by housing they cannot afford, by property taxes that keep climbing. She does not repeat talking points about these issues. She has fought on them, including taking public stands that put her at odds with some of the most powerful figures in Montpelier. Her independence is real, and it is earned.

Elizabeth has also been a consistent voice against school consolidation policies that rural communities like ours never asked for, and she is paying close attention to what is happening at the federal level and what Vermont needs to do to protect its people. The Vermont Progressive Party’s endorsement reflects what those of us who know her already know — Elizabeth Burrows is the real thing. Please consider her as your first choice for the upcoming vote on Aug, 11  and again in November.
