Lego assembly clicks at St. Luke’s

About 75 children and adults were present as 33 Lego scene creations were entered in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church’s Lego scene contest on Saturday April 14th. The contest was open to children from pre-K to grade 6 with the proceeds going to benefit St. Luke’s and the Whiting Library Children’s Room. The church was abuzz with activity as the kids assembled their creations, viewed those of others or ran outside to play in the warming sun. Horizontal Ocean with side-stacked Legos was created by Ethan Westney, of Reading, VT, who received the award for Most Creative Design.
Green Beret Training Center won 1st place in the 4th Grade category for creator Willy Hugg, of Charlestown, NH.

The You Name It Factory won 2nd place in the 4th grade category for Sam Mitchell of S. Reading, VT.
Star Cafe with Horse Drive-in won a 1st Prize for Kindergartener Estella Gross.
Lego Church by Ryan Colburn of Chester won Honorable Mention and a Han Solo figure to counteract the Darth Vader figure who leads the congregation.
The Covered Bridge by, from right, Jack Dunn and Sawyer Pippen won the Judges’ Prize. The Dunn family is from Connecticut and has a second home in Chester.
The Gross family’s End of Season – 30 Years of Lego- with Isabelle and Judah Gross
1st Place In the Family Category. The seven Grosses of Cavendish made a ski scene called End of Season, 30 years of Lego. Abraham Gross, the father, played with the Lego in the center when he was a boy.
The audience is attentive as prizes are announced.
