Employment and disabilities workshop in White River Junction

The Vermont Center for Independent Living is sponsoring an Employment and Disabilities Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Upper Valley Haven Library, 713 Hartford Ave. in White River Junction.

This free event, aimed at Vermont residents, is being held in recognition of October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month and is open to people with disabilities and their family members, care or services providers or others interested in the topics.

Workshop topics will include a look at workplace incentive programs and an overview of workplace rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act featuring Clark Postemski, an advocate from Disability Rights Vermont. There will also be overviews of vocational and local services. Additional presenters include Kris Jennifer Garneau of the Vermont Association of Business Industry and Rehabilitation, Samantha Brennan from Vocational Rehabilitation, as well as Elizabeth Smith and Tony Gillam from Health Care & Rehabilitation Services of Vermont.
