West River Montessori accepting new pupils; Saxtons River Montessori holds Parents Night Out fund-raiser

The West River Montessori School, located at 3650D Rte 100N in South Londonderry,  is now accepting enrollment for its toddler and preschool program for the 2015/2016 school year.

Both programs are based on the Maria Montessori teaching method and philosophy. WRMS will be hosting an open house from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4 to allow parents and their children to visit the school, experience the Montessori method and meet the teachers and other families.

The West River Montessori School was founded in 1978.

Its program is designed for parents who are interested in obtaining the best education for their children.

Following the Montessori philosophy, WRMS is a community that fosters a lifelong love of learning intrinsic to the pursuit of academic, physical, and personal development of students, teachers and parents. Saxtons River Montessori fund-raiser
a Parents’ Night Out

The Saxtons River Montessori School will hold its annual fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb.  7, at the Chivers Center, Vermont Academy, 56 Shepherd Lane, Saxtons River.

This year’s theme is “Parents’ Night Out” featuring a homemade pasta dinner, a silent auction, entertainment by the Ben Carr Music Project and free babysitting. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

The dinner will have both wheat and gluten free pasta paired with a variety of home cooked sauces, salads and desserts.

The silent auction features two season passes to Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center (retail value of $200), a romantic overnight stay with breakfast at the Grafton Inn, lift tickets to Bromley and Okemo mountains, a ukulele with a beginner lesson, jewelry by Rebecca Haas, photography by Drew Kauffman, artwork by Ailyn Hoey, blown glass Tsuga Studios, a case of Tablas Creek wine, gift certificates to local stores and much more.

Music for the evening is provided by the Ben Carr Music Project, performing original rock, reggae, and jazz/funk, plus covers of exceptional quality.

The Saxtons River Montessori School, located at 15 Westminster St. in Saxtons River, provides a learning environment that encourages freedom of movement, thought, and creativity with a focus on independent development – a place in which the child can be surrounded by peers, but still work at his/her own pace. All proceeds from the event will go to the school’s continuing operating costs.
