Paying for College presentation at GMUHS

The Vermont Student Assistance Corp. in collaboration with Green Mountain Union High School has scheduled a Paying for College presentation at the school at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27. The school is located at 716 Route 103 S. in Chester. The session is free and open to the public.

VSAC logoThe presentation, which normally runs between 90 minutes and two hours, provides students and  parents with information on financial aid and other resources available to pay for college.

Time is allotted for questions. Among the topics covered are types of financial aid, ways to apply, how family contribution is calculated, how financial aid is awarded, student and parent loans, and alternative payment options.

VSAC is a public nonprofit created by the state to help Vermonters plan and pay for education or training beyond high school.

VSAC administers Vermont’s 529 college savings plan; state grants for full-time, part-time and non-degree study; public and private scholarships; and education loans.

In addition VSAC sponsors online career and college planning tools, a free lending library, and presentations aimed at helping Vermonters prepare for life after high school.
